Recent updates on Facebook blog yesterday state that Liked articles will be appearing in the search results as they expanding its range of ability since the last time commenting enabled features, Like button for Facebook Pages, 'box count' layout style and 'liking' physical objects (products) introduced.
Liked articles appearing in search results
Consistent with how we treat other Open Graph object types, we’ve introduced the ability to see articles shared by your friends in the search typeahead. For instance, if your friend clicks "Like" on an article at a news site, the article will appear in your News Feed and can now also surface in the search type ahead. ~ Namita Gupta
As expected from Facebook in its efforts to strengthen its foundation as a new emerging search engine, the term search and Likes are not so different now. Put aside google complicated algorithm on PageRank upon deciding on popular article in the search results, Facebook Likes came out with more relevent and reasonable factors on which article should be or will be appear in the search results. The 'algorithm' to doing well in search results is simple, write a compeling article and as much as people 'like' and share it, it will become more popular in the search engine.
Not just that, 'liking' is a lot easier than getting a single backlink keeping in mind that not all reader are bloggers. And considering that over half a billion Facebook users all around the world make it sound more promising.
A little obstacle though that as for today, people are not yet consider(or know) Facebook as a search engine and using its search box to search content. But as far as we know, with its big influence over the network that Facebook get recently, this matter will be resolve soon. And this will likely end up with the whole new definition bring by Facebook in term of search engine.
