Robots as we always know was very synonym with Japan. We know ASIMO, a humanoid robot by Honda and the famous commercial robotic dog, AIBO by Sony as well as others which manufactured by Toyota, Toshiba and all those robotic industrial companies. But here is a interesting story that happened in China where unlike those fully resources robotic corporate, Wu Lu 49 years Old farmer and inventor work in a completely different environment but despite of his situation he make up his fame.

Wu Yulu since his 11 was so obsess with a mechanical movement and had a strong desire to make the machine act like human. Maybe in a different situation perhaps, Wu might become a successful engineer but his unfortunate upbringing forced him to drop school in his earlier age. So he learned to make robots by making mistakes. In the late 70s, Wu got a job at a farm machinery factory, and the small income helped him turn used sewing machine parts and some steel wire into his first robot.
"Until now, I don't know the theory of physics, but I knew that electricity can drive motors and power can be transferred to the robot's hands and legs with levers and wires," Wu said.


Despite of his first unsuccessful robots, Wu continued experimenting and lastly in 1982, his first movable robot, Wu Laoda (the first son of the Wu), was born. More interestingly, he named his robots by his own family name, Wu.

Until now, he had invented 47 robots which capable to do things like climbing walls, serving water, playing musical instruments, writing calligraphy and many more. Wu who participate in Shanghai World Expo, said that his obsession with robot sometimes make his wife angry threatened to leave him. Why not, Wu spend most of his penny on the robots and love his robots more than his son. But yeah, he is damm brilliant.

Like many other robot creators, Wu also face many problems during the process  like a battery exploded, living in debt and almost burned his house when one of his robot cause a short circuits. However, he hoped that his participation with his robots that he regard as his own children in this World Expo will provide a new ray of life and in the world of invention. Now he is recognized from his robots invention and receive a numerous contracts from the universities in the country.

"I want to build more robots that can help people. I also have designed a robot that can help with the work in the kitchen," he said who hoped to bring his invention to Britain.

Wu with his 31st robots that he regarded as a son programmed the Android to say:
"Wu Yulu is my father, I will bring him to town."

That was a story about a brilliant uneducated country-boy in his hardship, but because of the interest, determination and creativity, could do something that may have considered as impossible. Yes way.
